A thought on the line between allowing dissent/debate & NOT allowing hate or harassment:

Reacting to something said, even w/ anger, isn't the same as a personal attack. Not the same thing AT ALL. Learn to take your lumps if you spout stuff that pisses people off. It's how we grow as people.

I agree, we can. But we're not failing at inclusivity when we don't.

Expressing anger is not the same as the trolling & viscious attacks this site doesn't permit.
Tone policing has long been used to silence minority voices, & we need to be as careful of that as of other types of attacks.

Also worth considering: White women in particular, like myself, are heavily socialized to be polite & protect the feelings of others. It's *really* hard to accept blunt, direct reactions that don't protect feelings, or to speak out ourselves. But why? Who does that benefit? What is the impact?
