- Yes Trump rescinded Obama legislation that required HazMat trains be equipped with ECP brakes that could have prevented or lessened the severity of this situation.

What regulations were removed?
These:
Electric brakes. At least 30%, better 50%, less rail cars (150 cars are way too many), weight limit regulations. 18,000 Tonnes is NOT safe given crumbling infrastructure.
Basically, under Trump the lobbyists got what they wanted, the rail workers did not.

Query: Who *is* responsible for the clean-up? If not DoT/Buttigieg, is it EPA? Is it even any Federal agency, given that DeWine hasn't called them in?

Or, does it (as it should) become Federal once the disaster begins to impact other states?
