This sounds lovely, but doesn't California have a high population of homeless people?

Years ago, I was upset when Pennsylvania tore down a military housing complex in Monroe County. Low income to middle income families could have used them.

Former El Toro marine base located near Irvine, CA, which closed almost 25 years ago, is now being transformed into the largest city park in the U.S.

The park will span 1,300 acres and include museums, an amphitheater, a veterans memorial garden, an aquatics center, a sports complex, and two lakes.

In response to Woke/Saying NO to polls.
Yup. You'd think that would be one of the first places to embrace a housing first plan...but #NIMBYs are everywhere. Top often the locals throw a fit over helping people.

This is exactly right. The park is in the midst of affluent Orange County, CA. Any suggestion that this or other resources be used to house the homeless or disadvantaged is met with fierce backlash. Local homeowners will fight against anything that threatens their home values or personal wealth.
