In our house we ask "You want to be heard or helped? " because we both default to "help" which is annoying when you need "hear"

Often, people just want to complain. Complaining is not asking for advice. Besides, most advice given on social media is obvious and repeated over and over again. If people actually want advice they will explicitly ask for it.

This is a nice simple phrasing for this.
I think we need to adopt it in our home, too, because same!
