For the last time, you not having tickets for your family to sit together is a "you" problem. Stop asking people who might have paid for the exact seat they wanted to move you entitled asses.

We've booked flights for 7 of us with assigned seating. Never had a problem. We've also booked on flights where there is no assigned seating & l have sat a couple of rows apart, again no problem. We've also had people offer to change with us when they realized we were together.

I think you can ask, but you can’t be upset if someone says no.
Sometimes a family can book seats together and then get rearranged by the airline. So you should be doing everything you can to plan ahead and reserve seats together, but if shit falls apart you can ask, but you can’t expect it.

That's a very fair statement but sitting in someone's seat or getting angry when someone says no is the problem. More people are feeling entitled to behave like this. That being said, the greedy airlines caused this by Nicole and doming every part of the airline experience.
