Trump is an insurrectionist. There is a strong argument that he is not eligible to be President. It has nothing to do with whether one likes him, or who gets more votes, or the vital principle of accepting election results even when you lose, without which democracy cannot exist. He. Is. Ineligible.

His eligibility must be challenged in court NOW. If, however, he should be permitted to run, and secures the Republican nomination-him or any other insurrectionist, Democrats should refuse to recognize him as a legitimate candidate. This includes refusing to debate him.

And if, God forbid, he wins (or, more likely "wins"), Democrats should refuse to recognize him as a legitimate President. So should independents, and any Republicans left who even pretend to love their country or the law.

I'm not kidding. If he is elected, the Electoral College should be urged to pick someone else. Congress should refuse to certify it. And state governors should refuse to comply with any orders he gives- and call on Federal employees and the military to do likewise.

Other nations should be urged not to recognize him as legitimate.

The public should support all this by mass demonstrations and civil disobedience, and unions, workers, and students should support it by calling a national general strike.

What we should NOT do is initiate violence- that will give the fascists a pretext to frame us as the insurrectionists, to justify a violent crackdown and martial law. It will alienate a lot of support. And make it more likely that the armed forces will intervene against us.

I don't say any of this lightly. The principle of accepting election results, even if you lose, is sacred to democracy and the rule of law. We rightly defended it in 2020, and ever since.

But again, this isn't about who gets more votes. HE. IS. NOT. ELIGIBLE. And he's a traitor.

Hopefully we will never have to face this situation. But we need to be prepared for it now. Because if we aren't, then when it comes there will be no time to organize. While we are still reeling from the shock, the illegitimate insurrectionist will be establishing his dictatorship.

We are literally in this day and age witnessing the second coming of Hitler reaching for the reins of our country, reaching for control of us all. What’s worse is the sheer number of supporters that he has that call themselves “Americans”.
