I would love to know why MTG can't be sued by Hunter for what she did yesterday. The case was settled, Hunter entered into a plea agreement. That maneuver was unnecessary, spiteful, a deliberate smear. There's protection on the floor of the House. that shouldn't apply to smearing private citizens.

I am not a lawyer, but I think there’s a question of whether or not she was “in DC” when she did it. She was physically within the boundaries of the city, but the capitol is federal property, not DC. Either way, she is despicable.

I keep hearing there are protections for those on the House floor that they can't be arrested for what they say or do. I'm not sure if it applies to smearing a private citizen or not. Or if it includes a civil lawsuit. Maybe she can't be arrested but I don't know about being sued. Yes, despicable.
