Good morning. First Hyacinth Bean https://tinyurl.com/mr2f7k... flower of 2023. We grow these on a garden fence corner for hummingbirds, the sweet scent, and as a conversation starter. This is a Black Diaspora plant brought to The Americas by enslaved people

I seed fence line (raised wood beds) around New Year's. One year, I seeded in Fall, we still had 80s in Nov and they came up early Dec and died when it froze. 🤦‍♀️

I seed harvest instead of buying. We don't let seed pods overwinter for fear deer or birds will 'plant' them in the state park.
