What personal benefit? They were property. Beaten, raped, families torn apart… WHAT BENEFIT?? This is unreal

Have you seen reporting that breaks down how this came to be? I'm a math guy, where's its more concrete how you go from benchmark to instruction. Does FL have textbooks that support this "benchmark clarification," or do they expect teachers to make it up?
This is wrong on so many levels

The line about "personal benefit" is included as a "benchmark clarification" to a lesson that asks students to "examine the various duties and trades performed by slaves," such as agricultural work, domestic service, blacksmithing and household tasks like tailoring and painting.

Anything to protect & excuse the violent kidnapping & trafficking of black human beings. Like excusing sexual assault because a baby was born from the rape.

I hope some enterprising Black lawyers try to start a CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT against RON DeSantis and the State of FLORIDA for attempting to teach LIES about SLAVERY to Students in Florida schools. Frankly, it’s freaking DISGUSTING! Soon a public H.S. Diploma from Florida will only be honored in Fla.
