All I can think is how much desperation they felt to make that journey, & endure those hardships. It breaks my heart 💔

It is to me. I'm a 2nd gen American. What my 12 yr old grandmother & her 6 younger sibs went through to come alone to a place where they knew no one, & couldn't speak the language...I don't have that kind of strength. She they were literally stowaways on a freighter in the late 1800s-early 1900s.
