Yes. Betsy DeVos and her defunding and disassembly of public education as Secretary of Education really accelerated the attack. She continues that assault to this day. - https://www.axios.com/2022/07/17/betsy-devos-abolish-department-of-education

For me, from Katrina to the Great Recession to - goodness yes, one of the most destructive of Secys of Ed - but also the colliding timing of the consequences of NCLB. We've been under attack for so long—it is exhausting, but even then our kids are so worth our investment.
