Whoa.

Florida insurance premiums have now SOARED 206% since DeSantis became governor.

On average, Florida homeowners pay over $4,200/year for home insurance, TRIPLE the national average of $1,700.

The DeSantis administration's response so far has been to call the insurance companies 'woke.'

My brother & SIL dropped theirs last year when it was increased to $1800/mo with hurricane coverage. Freaks me out, but I get it.

I had hoped (many years ago) that the insurance lobby would be the one to push back against the oil and gas lobby on climate change legislation. Instead, they’re punishing consumers by leaving the state, like CA, or jacking up premiums to unaffordable rates.

Yup. Climate change (aka hurricane alley) has caused a few insurers to leave the state. The ones that remain will do what they can to make money. They will take your premium without hesitation, paying your claims, different story. Climate Change is real and far reaching.

They also require new roofs and new electrical, or they won't insure you at all. Florida is MESSED up right now, in a lot of ways.

Yes. That was my brother’s situation. He has a 30+ yo Mediterranean style roof. It would cost 50-70k to replace. Then hit with ~$2k/mo for insurance

Want to bet insurance companies are greasing his and his buddies palms?
Brushing it off like that shows he won't do anything about it, why? Because it benefits him

i’m sure refusing to do anything about climate change when it’s one of the most high-risk states in the country is helping
