I believe it has been determined that a spout has to have over 100 interactions before it can become a splashback. So you may need to campaign for it to be liked/echoed a few times to boost its numbers.

That's good. Most of our spouts really don't need to be repeated months later, out of context.

Perhaps, but neither do most of the spouts that do become splashbacks, especially ones for breaking news or updates to the platform.
And the glitch that spawned the idea actually did cause people to see a lot of old, out-of-context spouts in their timeline. And many people loved it.
