Not flying much but when I do I have to balance price and convenience (# of stops, schedule, seating, airport), and it can be agony deciding where to strike the balance. I love to take the train when I can - more room, can walk around, eat when I want. Sometimes it’s cheaper, sometimes not.

When I was younger, I only cared about low cost when traveling. But after years of having to travel for work and getting older, I find that comfort matters a lot to me. Like I prefer to avoid coach while flying, if possible. Why? Slightly roomier seat matters on my back. Same for lodging.

However, I have some travel to plan this year and it's like, ugh. I need to see family, I want to be economical but I also don't want to lose days to my body being jacked up.

Cost for sure, but I'm 53 and so comfort factors in too. I don't need luxury (see 'cost' lol) but a little nice goes along way for me. :)

Cost. I don't mind roughing it to get to go somewhere.

Interest...if I have an interest in the location I will find the money and the comfort.
