My hot take on free school lunches. If politicians can afford to write themselves daily per diems for meals and incidentals, then they can do the same for kids in public schools. Surely they can afford $50/day in meals and incidentals and don't need the taxpayers to pay for it.

Even parents that *can* afford to send their children to school with lunches, you know what? They are also likely 2 job households, who juggle school drops offs, picks ups, after school activities, doctor appointments and a myriad of other things

Time is something we wish we had more of, and if there's one less thing that working parents could have taken care of by the collective good of taxes that we all pay into the system, then the opposition to it, tells me that those opposed do not feel that helping each other is a worthwhile endeavor

Nothing gets me going more than a wealthy privilege politician saying that giving kids free school lunches is socialism, all the while they're wining and dining their way to free meals and transportation on MY dime. There will always be people that will take advantage

But do we cut off our own noses to spite our faces? Do we say that 90% of people don't deserve assistance because 10% will cheat? The wealthy keep their money because they never have to spend it, because they take it away from others to enrich themselves.
