Any renter's insurance recommendations? I have a friend with horror stories about the one I'm currently on (Assurant). It renews soonish, so I might have time to switch while not having a coverage gap if I do it quickly.

YMMV. Different companies write policies in different states. Do you get a discount where you work? They will not want to jeopardize a major account with poor service. Also, a good agent makes a big difference. Who is well regarded near you?

It's a little complicated because we had such bad hurricanes/storms a few years ago, no one came out looking great around here. But a couple of the major players have some offices here.

I've had a good experience with Farmers Insurance. Like many situations, though, a lot depends on your insurance agent. Which state are you in?

Thank you! I'm in Louisiana, so we can be limited sometimes.

Hi...I've been a AAA member for over 25 yrs, & my auto ins & renters ins is w/them, as well. I'm very happy w/them. Just recently, I cancelled an identity theft membership elsewhere, & signed on to one at AAA.

AAA isn't in every state, so this website allows you to compare several companies.

AAA worked for us when our rental burned in a wildfire.

Thank you for sharing! I'm so sorry you had to go through that, though.

I thought I read Lemonade Is a service that finds a good match for you, vs an insurance company that actually underwrites policies. I could be wrong. We've used USAA for more than 25 years for all manner of insurance needs - car, renters, homeowners, etc.

Lemonade.

Reasonably priced. I haven't had a bad experience with them. However, I've never really needed to use it either.
