🎻Stradivari remains in Ukraine: border guards seized the violin of the famous Italian

The musical instrument, manufactured in 1730, was found during border-customs control in the cabin of a regular bus at the checkpoint "Palanka-Mayaki-Udobne" in Odesa.

According to drivers and flight attendants, the abandoned masterpiece has no owner. The violin was handed over to the experts.

It may have some value. In 19h century violins the Strad labels was more tribute than deception. A few of those from better makers can be worth some dough, not nearly the millions a strad is worth. Unclear from the post where it was trying to go. Somebody probably just forgot their axe.

The border it was found at is south eastern most point of Moldova on the border with Ukraine - a few miles west of Odesa. Relics and precious items are hard to corral when a cathedral is bombed. Opportunity was wide open for theft although they made an effort at safekeeping once flames were put out.

Yes, could certainly be a pillaged item. I hope it finds its way back to its owner. They took care of it, put it on n a good case with a hygrometer. Someone’s sad to lose it.
