In the United States, Naegleria fowleri (the brain-eating amoeba) is more common in the Southern states during summer months but has been found as far north as Minnesota.

If I'm reading this right, basically this amoeba is everywhere in GA and can be in ANY pond, lake, etc with warm water?!

This, plus endemic leprosy in FL?

I swear, I am never travelling farther south than Virgina Beach.

In response to Lake Lanier.
Jeebus loretta. I'm never swimming again, except in my bathtub.

Wait... What about the @Atlantic_Ocean ?! That's safe, right? Or at least brain-eating amoeba free?
