Compassion is not universal, sadly. Many faiths teach it. Logic supports it. Many lead lives devoid of compassion.

Christianity is not required to be a compassionate person like Buddhism is not required to be a logical person. But they are paths.

Compassion is universal in that no religion or group of people have a lock on it. All are born w/capacity. In fact, compassion transcends species barrier & may be found anywhere. We even find evidence of it in plant mycorrhizal networks that connect plants, even widely disbursed ones, at the roots.
