Gonna miss Paul Sewald - what is it with trading really good closers at the trade deadline? #SeattleMariners

Makes me sad. He's made it clear all along how much he's appreciated being with Seattle. When I'm in charge of the universe, all the teams will have infinite rosters and payroll, and any guys who want to stay get to stay!

Infinite rosters and payroll - that's a great idea! And no trading popular, effective closers!

DiPoto thinks he can make a top closer out of anyone. The record supports this (Sewald was awful when we got him). So it's a buy-low, sell-high strategy, since teams overpay for closers at the deadline.

Is this worth the clubhouse upset it engenders (2021 and now)? That's an open question.

This is good analysis - Dipoto and Hollander aren't the best at developing hitters though, but I hope at least 1 of the 3 new additions can hit - hopefully! And I'll miss Paul . . .
