Thank you to all the #Spoutible community in Ireland!

Belfast, Ireland, just installed a statue of the American hero Frederick Douglass at one of its famous churches. Douglass visited Ireland and connected with the Irish people in a way repeated by President Obama in 2011.

Many Black Americans hold a special love for Ireland's people. Why the affinity? Because of our similar experiences of oppression? Ireland's people recognize Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. as another Black American icon. MLK never visited the nation, but he also shared a love of the Irish people.
