What's the difference between an echo and a splash back? What is a splashback?

An echo is when someone decides to share a spout they like.
A splashback is a random older spout that shows up through the system sharing it.

There was a glitch a while back that caused a bunch of old spouts to show; people liked it so the feature was added. Unfortunately, it isn't the same.

A splashback is an old spout that pops up on your feed — a “flashback,” if you will.

An echo is the equivalent of a “retweet.” It shares someone’s spout on the feeds of those that follow you.

You can toggle either/both of these on/off as you choose at the top of your feed. Hope that helps!

Echo = retweet. A splashback is an older spout that is randomly brought up again by the system to be seen again. Splashbacks were originally a bug, but people liked them, so Chris turned it into a feature. You can disable both echoes and splashbacks with the toggles at the top of your timeline feed.
