It’s interesting (to me anyway) when my kids ask me for something they know I mean yes and I mean no, they also know that if my wife says no and they keep asking the answer will probably change. Mine never does.

Oh, yeah. That's a definite thing.
Not necessarily always mom will give in and dad won't, but often there is often one parent more likely to than the other, and kids learn which is which.
Kids are smarter than we sometimes give them credit for.
