That is beautiful. I've never seen echinacea in that color before. Does is have the same medicinal qualities as the traditional purple?

I have wondered about that too, I would guess no, as it was bred for color. Multiple purple varieties are grown for that purpose. I’m not sure what part of the plant is used though.

I’m thinking of going back to straight species for medicinal uses of plants like yarrows and echinacea.

the purple flowers around it is Monardella villosa (common name coyote mint), which is a California native plant.
