Have 3 job interviews this week. Question for the community: What’s the best way to answer the question “Why were you let go from your last job?” Reason I was given from previous employer was it wasn’t because of my work but they didn’t feel that being a consultant was the best fit for me.

What was the language of your termination? Were you Laid Off? Are you eligible for re-hire?

Official verbiage was “We’re letting you go”

On termination pwrk that you had to sign it should have some indication on whether you're eligible for re-hire. If it was me, & I was eligible, I'd just say It wasn't a good fit. If they call them for a reference, they can only verify that you worked there & if you're eligible for re-hire.

I didn’t sign any termination paperwork so I’m good there.

You're golden. "It wasn't a good fit". I don't like to say negative things about my previous employer, so don't give any details about anything. Say something positive, & move on.

I loved it there which is still tough. Thanks for the advice. I’m an IT nerd so verbiage is not my strong suit. 😊

Sometimes this happens, & it sucks. Try not to be discouraged, & try not to take it personally. This is a bump in your road, but you're obviously a go-getter with 3 interviews lined up! You're gonna be great. Good luck on your interviews!
