My thoughts exactly. Everyone has and develops skills throughout life. To portray this as a benefit of slavery is ridiculous and political (GOP) gaslighting at its worse.

OK I know logic does not come naturally to any of them, but "developing skills" would only be a "benefit of slavery" if they were skills that could not have been developed had the people involved been free. Someone needs to ask what skills slaves developed that were impossible for free men.

I lived in a town near Butlerville, a formerly segregated area where slaves after emancipation could now use all their new great skills to prosper as butlers since, even freed, they were not allowed to work in any profession, just labor and domestic labor.
But don't confuse the issue with facts.
