Tutorial for participating in one of my #CollaborativePlaylist

Many people have expressed interest in wanting to participate, but feeling like they don't know how. So I'm going to try to lay it out in this thread. In the future when people have questions, I'll point them to this thread. 😊

First, for those who may be asking: what is a #CollaborativePlaylist ? It's a thread with each spout in the thread having a song in the form of a YouTube video linked in it. Usually, they follow a specific theme or genre.

What makes it collaborative? Spoutible has the function available to create collaborative threads. I can add 1-3 volunteers as collaborators who can then contribute to the thread in real time.

As the moderator (or owner) of the thread, I can remove contributors or spouts from the thread. I've never removed a contributor once they've been added. I have deleted spouts in the thread to remove duplicates or to keep the aesthetic if someone didn't wait for the YouTube link to load. See below.

*Important: once the thread has begun, I cannot add anyone as a contributor. That has to be done when the thread starts. I always seem to get people wanting to participate after I've started the thread. I usually leave the comments open so people can comment below the thread if they desire.

I usually poll Spoutible a few days before the next thread to help determine the next genre and start asking for volunteers for the next one. Remember I can only add 1-3 contributors and I have to add them at the beginning.

Okay how to participate:
I will start the thread, usually on Saturday mornings (U.S. CST). I will add the contributors and all the proper hashtags with the first spout.

You will know you are going to be a contributor because I will let you know ahead of time.

Once the first spout in the thread has started, click on that spout to open it. Underneath you should see an icon that's labeled "Add Threaded Spout." Click on that to add to the thread. Only contributors will see that icon. Others will see "Add comment" which will go below the thread.

Next you will go to YouTube and search for a song you want to add. When you find a video you want to share, look for three little dots and click on them. It will give you a drop down menu. Choose share. Then choose copy Link.

Once your link is copied, come back to the thread and add threaded spout, then add whatever text and hashtags you want, then right click or hold your finger in the text box to paste.

When you paste your link, give Spoutible a few seconds to pull up the thumbnail. It looks much nicer in the thread than a text link. Once the thumbnail is there, you can delete the text link and the thumbnail will remain. This cleans up the Spout and allows you to reclaim those characters.

That's it. Easy peasy. I believe there's a maximum of 3 or 400 spouts per thread (I've never hit the limit). We usually just go until people lose interest, you run out of ideas, or you have other things to do. Now who wants to volunteer for the next one? 😃
