🖐🏾💔😪 When aki (my dad) was 8yrs old, his favorite cousin was lynched by the klan in the 30's for being too outspoken & trying to organize for voting rights. There were other lynchings in the community and so much white terrorism. My dad was forced by elders to watch as the body was cut down.

Absolute truth akana🖐🏾🔥 So many Native & Black elders have stories that are yet to be heard. We've all lived with intergenerational trauma in our blood along with the resilience that keeps pushing us to survive & thrive. I keep saying it -- history is a current event. Our histories matter.
