I've said it once and I'll say it again, we need age limits not term limits in Congress.

I originally said 70 but I think 68 is a better number. You may serve past 68 but only if you were elected prior to turning 68. You can't run for federal office after turning 68. It's time.

68 is way too young. I say 75 to 80. I’m flexible. I know many people who have worked well into their 70’s including my parents. My Mom was an ER RN, and my Stepdad was an English Professor with a Doctorate. They both retired around age 75. He’s at 100% for mental acuity. He’s 77. She’s 83. ☮️

But they are the exception to the rule. Most people start losing cognitive abilities when they reach 70. At 68 a senator can serve until they're 74 and a Congressperson can serve until 70. We need younger minds in Federally elected positions.

So, "most" people are fully cognitively intact until their 70th birthday and then, what, that night, the next morning, exactly when does the decline suddenly begin? Better to come up with a cognition TEST, and use it to disqualify a shit stain like MTG from running, and keep a good 100 year old.

Did I say it happens over night? No, I didn't. Science says it typically begins around 70 not me. I'm all for a cognitive test. That would eliminate the vast majority of problems we have with those serving. It would also eliminate a need for minimums and maximums.

Thank you for this. Things that jump out at me: 1) that is an old study 2) it is very general, based on a series of tests standardized for the study, not related to specific education or experience 3) not really applicable to the original topic here, which I believe was leadership capability
