Quoting this because apparently there are some privileged dipshits that still need to hear it.
Bun the Franky @ZomBunnyFrank
Just to make it clear:

The average cost of an interstate move in America is $5,000.

The number of people in America with less than $5,000 is savings is 75%.

Do the fucking math. And quit shitting on people who don't have the privilege to make a choice about which state they live in.

Moved back to PA from MD last year, $6,500. (3.5 hour drive) Can’t even imagine moving a longer distance. I moved to a condo so I didn’t have that much furniture, also no lawn equipment or outdoor stuff.

It's just an unreasonable cost for a majority of Americans. Many of us just have to fight the good fight from where we are, not where we'd like to be.

Plus, people have other ties like parents in their care or physical businesses that they can't just pick up and move. And if you have kids, it's crucial to secure a place to live and job BEFORE you move.

Yep. Now add in the family situations many find themselves in...ailing parents that need care, kids that have friends and school and a whole life, ex spouses that have a say in where their kids live...

Well, now I feel seen/heard!
I moved here because of work, and now... early retirement. It currently is also the cheapest place to live comfortably on a very tight budget. I hate what this state is doing politically and I do my part, as much as I can.

Absolutely. On your budget, I'm sure you couldn't relocate even if you wanted to, which means you just do what you can through your voice and your vote. We see you.

When I took a job in South Carolina, I received no relocation assistance. It cost me $10,000.00 of my own money to move as a renter, not as a homeowner. You're correct. Most Americans can't afford to move from their current locations because the financial cost is high. 😱

All of this☝️☝️☝️

Interstate moves are so far beyond the means of most people that it's a wonder anyone is able to accomplish it.

Makes me so mad when I see people who are supposedly on "our side" treating those who are stuck in bright red states like they are traitors to the cause for not moving.

I'd venture to guess the average is even higher at this point...

It's possible, when I Googled those numbers I think they are a couple of years old.
