I've always suffered from "Asian flush," and found this article so informative: "The redness and other symptoms may be thought of as a severe warning from the body that alcohol is extremely toxic to this individual, much more so than to many others."

I’d call that a welcome “mutation,” or the body’s natural way of warning you out of harm’s way. I don’t experience turning flushed but I’ve never particularly liked the taste of alcohol (or the reaction), which of course has always made me an outlier.
