Oh ho, got a story of the #MiseducationOfAmerica ! In my AP US history class it was taught that enslaved Black people were brought in because the Indigenous people kept dying/were too few and white workers couldn't handle yellow fever like this was a logical A to be to C thing. 1/2

Never did explain how the white people who moved to the south but didn't work the fields survived yellow fever, a mosquito borne disease, or why Black people had to be enslaved rather than wage labor, much less why there couldn't just be trade in Indigenous grown cotton and tobacco
