Hey, pod,

Has anyone found a way to help people with #HearingAids enjoy #music again? My mom is one of the majority who can't. Even though her hearing aids have a music setting, she can't even make out her favorite song anymore, "Au Claire de Lune."

Hi! Not a hearing aid expert here, but some experience as an SLP. Hearing aids are usually DELIBERATELY set to focus on speech frequencies, not the wider range of frequencies in music. So, often they distort music. There are a couple of things to try: 1) she could discuss w audiologist who

the audiologist who fitted her hearing aid and see what recommendations they have for modifying her listening experience. 2) try using an Assistive Listening Device (ALD) instead of her hearing aid for music listening. An ALD amplifies sound but won't be tuned to her hearing profile. Inexpensive.

"Assistive listening device" - that's the search term which wasn't coming to me. Thank you!

The hearing aids music won’t be loud because of lost of hearing. Oticon has hearing aids hearing and tinnitus but the hearing level is set by the doctor. They are expensive too. Maybe not anymore because of Biden’s plan.
