Here in the UK you’d roll your eyes and tut a lot if there were more than 2 or 3 people in front of you.
I get a postal ballot, then forget to post it and have to drop it off at the polling station anyway. 🙄

I'm from Germany and never heard of anywhere in Europe where you have to stand in line to vote. I've always just walked in, got my ballot, maybe waited for a booths to become available, did my thing and walked out.

We were in Paris during last year’s presidential election. We definitely saw lines of people waiting to vote at two different locations.
