Today for #BlackHistoryMonth , I recommend this NPR podcast on Bayard Rustin, the man who organized the March on Washington, but because he was gay, was forced to stay behind the scene

The Netflix docudrama "Rustin" is worth a watch also.

He was also a very accomplished singer! Blew my mind when I first heard a recording -- I had no clue. He excelled in a few genres, too.

His place in the history of radical pacifism in America was also seminal in the Ban the Bomb movement of the late 1950s and early 1960s, and in his work with draft age men contemplating the step of becoming conscientious objectors in the period prior to the Viet Nam War.

March on Washington. I was 15 years old. Came on a bus from Philly with CORE. One of the formative moments of my life. Will always be grateful.
