Moon, Jupiter, and Venus in conjunction. Enlarge to see Jupiter's moons!

Pictures were taken last night from Mission Viejo, CA. Venus was close to the horizon and soon covered by clouds. All of them went under in the next 15 min.

I remember when I first saw Jupiter and its moon through a telescope. It’s unbelievable.

Amazing that we have that capability even with a simple store-bought telescope. Camera technology also continues to get better and better.

There is an iOS app called Star Walk. When the app is open and you point it towards the sky, it will immediately identify whatever planet or constellation you’re aiming the camera toward. It will even identify the international space station.
