It’s a choice.
Being a racist is a choice. Being an antisemite is a choice. Being a fascist is a choice. Being an appeaser is a choice. Being an enabler is a choice. Being a supporter is a choice. Being a white supremacist is a choice.
Being decent a choice.
It’s always a choice.

While I agree with you for the most part, I recognize that people are products of their family, schools, and general environment. Many bigots were taught to be so and never considered otherwise. 😢

What makes them 'feel bad', is the knowledge of who those white people in the photo might have been...

We All Make Informed Choices: People who proactively discriminate know that it is wrong, there is NO way for them to play dumb.
During my childhood I encountered many racist people, I never became a racist.

I really never understood why people discriminate against other people!

Sincerely, M

I remember visiting the Philadelphia African American Museum years ago. They had an exhibit that charted anti-slavery efforts ALL the way to the beginning. The people of the time knew it was wrong. And they chose the wrongness anyways. Miss me with the excuses about a "different time".

It is also ignorant to be so many impossible ways in a supposed civil education society. Apparently we are not.

Some people are too lazy to question their own beliefs.
That too is a choice.

A lot of these people might still be alive, with children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. I wander if these children ever asked their parents what part did they play in American racism.

Why do you think they’re all working so hard to erase it from schools? Their grandchildren are about to learn just what kind of racist POS Grammy and Grampy were.

The ability to overcome the weakness in the belief of yourself, selfishness, & one’s ignorance, is a choice.
Racism speaks more to that weakness, selfishness, & ignorance about yourself, than it does about others.
At least that’s how I view racists.
They’re weak, selfish, ignorant, or all three.
