The 3rd Corey

Found this gem yesterday while researching my black ancestors. William & Lucy (Hill) Morton (approx 1880s) William is my 2G grandma Catherine Morton’s brother. The Morton’s fled the Liberia settlement (Mercer, PA, 1851) after the passage of the fugitive slave laws (cont’d) #blackhistory

In response to The 3rd Corey.
The fugitive slave laws of 1850 allowed slavers 2 cross the Mason-Dixon 2 retrieve their “property.” William & Catherine were children when they took the URR 2 🇨🇦 with their father James (their mother never made it) James was likely from the Morton plantations of Orange Cty, VA #blackhistory
