Sign language has been used at Lexington for many decades now. It is true that they use Signed English which is not ASL grammar. In 2006, the principal of their high school was a deaf person.
The focus on cochlear implants was political. They were losing enrollment and needed to stay afloat

Is Lexington focusing on ecouraging implants? I'd hoped schools for the Deaf weren't doing that. Lexington could take a proactive approach and have Deaf adults meet with prospective hearing parents. Hearing parents who don't know any deaf people are terrified of their kids not fitting in
