“We don’t consider dementia a medical issue,” a Medicare rep told me, to my great disbelief.

Almost 10% of U.S. adults ages 65 and older have dementia, while another 22% have mild cognitive impairment.

Including my father.

When I started investigating Medicare reimbursements on behalf of my own family members, I was shocked to learn that dementia care is not covered. What do people do if they don’t have children to care for them? It is insane.
