Just returned from Amsterdam, where cars are secondary to bikes and public transportation, so this hits even harder.

You will go homeless long before your car ever will. Each car requires an average of six 600 square foot parking spaces for you to get from work to home to the store etc. 93% of a cars life is it doing nothing. We build more parking than any form of housing in the USA.

Amsterdam is truly my favorite place on the planet. I loved there for a year and it was transformative. I lost 60 pounds while eating the best food of my life. Their culture of multiple-transit orientation is the future this world needs, and all of us will be happier if we just copy them
