Dang, after being on Spoutible for a few days, its really hard to look at twitter, seems like a dystopian hellscape of conservative talking points and bullying.

Twitter’s atmosphere has been supercharged with grievance since the 2016 election cycle.

Trolls still popped up then, but it was to deliver nonsensical replies if you liked a book or movie.

Then the political hits began.

Twitter chose to profit off conflict, keeping trolls.

Looking back, 2016 was the beginning of the end. The entire tone of twitdom began to spiral out of control. Probably as soon as trump stood up to declare his candidacy. Twitdom became bot heaven w/stampede of racism w/overwhelming cruelty. Maybe it was a good thing cause it opened a lot of eyes.🖖

I remember the transformation.

I was a tiny account with about 200 followers.

Talked about books, movies, art, theatre, and One Life to Live (don’t judge 😉).

Then politics hit.

Organizing was amazing, then that was set aside in the race to have bigger accounts.
