For my international followers: The chancellor of Austria, Karl Nehammer, from the Conservative (leaning more and more to the right since his predecessor) Party OVP had a Marie Antoinette moment this week.
With the main difference: He actually said it. We got him on video.

And the grand opening of a new vinery, the chancellor spoke to a few party members about the state of politics in Austria. While he generally blamed everything that wasn't working on the Unions and the lefties and complained that he couldn't push for some things du his left-wing coalition partner...

...which is ironic given that the OVP has been in government since 1986, yet keeps complaining about the rotten state of the country.

But his Marie Antoinette moment came when he complained about women working part-time.

In a non-apology-apology video the next day, he doubled down:
"I stand for parents who take care of their kids" (Which apparently means to feed them junk food).

Will he resign? Unlikely. The OVP will run into a major debacle at the next election, regardless who's on point.

Most likely, he'll stand for re-election, the OVP will lose about half their votes from last time, and he'll resign. Making way for a "reboot" of the OVP. New face, same mindset.
