Tupac thoughts again. There aren’t rappers from poverty anymore that you get to hear mainstream. Part of what drew me to Pac’s music was the ability to hear about my experience growing up in poverty but in a poetic way. Not necessarily hopeful to be rich, but accepting life as it was.

Biggie came from poverty too. Always think of Juicy, dedicated to all the teachers that told him he’d never amount to nothing.

At that time I feel like they all did. That’s where the music was originating. That’s why it involved true gang violence. That’s why there was shooting of famous rappers based on them hating on the style of rap they performed.
