Regular hand hygiene is essential. Because you never know when you’re going to be handling onions, forget, and then rub your eyes. And those onions could have COVID on them.

I was 10 or 12. Mom was canning (remember that?) cherry peppers and rubbed her cheeks inadvertently.

Just before dad was going to take her to the ER, her mom came from next door with milk to clean the spots.

All was fine with the world.

Lesson? Buy chopped onions in your produce department.

True story : I used the alcohol pump on a recent tour of Alcatraz. I must have rubbed my eyes at some point and couldnt stop the burning. I was crying all the way to the hotel. Yikes! Would rather just wash hands to prevent Covid transmission.
