Let’s be honest about the age conversation. It boils down to: individual members of society are valued as creators of capital. Once we reach the age where we are no longer producing wealth or may need accommodations, we’re expendable. I’m not comfortable with that paradigm. Why are so many of you?

American Society hasn’t been taught to appreciate the very old, the very young or handicapped people either. Capitalism chews people up and spits them out. Religious institutions used to enforce those types of beliefs, but fewer people belong to them these days. Other cultures revere their elderly.
