Eeek, I wouldn’t dream of using anything else but oatmeal 😲

If you promise not to tell, I confess to adding fresh fruit, yoghurt, honey and walnuts if I am feeling rebellious. 🤫

If there is any left, I pop it into a dish, then the fridge to set and cut chunks off for nibbles during the day.

I agree. Oatmeal (and salt) are fundamental. But, like peanut butter sandwiches, people's porridge variations and their fierce loyalty to them are fascinating. Me? I sprinkle dried fruit and sliced banana while it's cooking. When it's ready, I mix in a spoonful of maple syrup.

I don't add anything while I'm cooking, in part because I like to nibble later in the day after it has set. I just dress a bowl if I fancy something to lighten the porridge.

I haven't tried maple syrup. However, you have given me a thought about trying balsamic reduction drizzled over.
