I used to visit Delamere Forest, Cheshire, as a child. In 1998 they felled a large area & stopped draining the land to return it to its original wetland state. It’s a work in progress but it is a lot wetter now than I remember it.

A expanse of water fringed by trees and bushes. Pale blue sky above is filled with fluffy clouds. In the water we can see the tops of tree stumps. Many of the stumps are surrounded by pond weed. The scene looks a little prehistoric somehow.
