A former bookkeeper for the last campaign of Rep. George Santos (R-N.Y.) pleaded guilty Thursday to making false statements, obstructing federal campaign regulators, wire fraud and aggravated identity theft in connection to the congressman’s existing fraud and money-laundering indictment.

To qualify, Santos, with Marks’s help, also is alleged to have lied that his campaign had taken in at least $250,000 in one quarter from third-party contributors. Santos and Marks reported falsely that 10 of their relatives made the nonexistent contributions.
