So, just trying things out as a total nobody I realize but... why do Twitter alternatives seem hellbent on awkward terminology? "Toot"? "Spout"?

A lot of us here were involved in choosing the name as well as the terminology on this platform.
For you to arrive and start with negative comments regarding this basically bashing our choices as your entrance
Is a pretty negative start.

When the bird app opened, "tweet" was also considered to be awkward.

Trademark. Copyright. The need to create terminology specific to a platform is necessary for people to know the source of information. "I saw this tweet..." Or "I saw a TikTok...." Gives you source information without it being specifically stated.

I don't have a problem with it. Each company tries to do something catchy or unique. It's the way it goes.

What many may not realize is a lot of us were actively involved in choosing the name as well as the terminology.
